His work develops through long-term processes of collecting, measuring, reproducing, exchanging, cleaning, accumulating and relocating materials and objects. These processes often alter the relations between what things are made of, how they are counted or valued, and the conditions under which they become visible or acquire a particular status.
Working across sculpture, installation, moving image, publications and site-responsive projects, he often treats the exhibition as one stage in a process that may continue through circulation, transformation, maintenance or reactivation.

He studied sculpture in the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid and the Massana School of Art, Barcelona. His art practice scrutinises the mechanisms by which collective memory is formed while reflecting on how institutions regulate the granting of symbolic value. His body of work encompasses installations, site-specific projects, online mechanisms, video works, objects, publications and other cultural artefacts.
Strategically embracing long-term processes and ongoing methodologies, Ruben views his practice as an extended experience which permeates each aspect of his every day life. Public presentations of his work become negotiation tools by which he seeks to contest and recalibrate definitions of the real.
